Success
Stories
A variety of educational institutions and other organizations are using SOLS with great success. We believe you will be impressed with and challenged by the ways these different institutions have successfully implemented SOLS into their daily operations.
O’More College of Design, Franklin, TN
O’More uses the SOLS student account management features
to provide each student a unique blended learning experience. Students
attend normal class sessions on campus. Their in-class lectures
are recorded so that they can be reviewed outside of class. Additionally,
inspirational student work and web links are accessible as related
information for their particular course work and assignments.
Trevecca Nazarene University, Nashville TN
SOLS is used with Trevecca’s financial stewardship courses—required
of all undergraduate students. Their learning is enhanced in a variety
of ways with SOLS. This courses’ SOLS site makes the following materials
accessible to students: video training tutorials on how to use excel
for finance, supplemental online resources for finance modules,
audio lectures for review of key information, and a collection of
web links.
ESL Basics
ESL Basics is an ESL tutoring resource. This organization
enhances ESL teaching and learning through using the “related link
network” of SOLS. Short video snippets of new language materials
(e.g. new pronunciations, grammatical examples, etc.) are posted
and then tied (i.e. related) to other written content with the same
topic. Thus they utilized the full potential of SOLS by providing
a learning platform that draws on all the learning styles in conjunction
with each other.
HeavensLink Ministries
HeavensLink ministries is a non-profit religious ministry.
They use SOLS for posting PowerPoint conference slides, audio recordings
of sessions, and supplemental PDF resources. After conferences are
given, attendees can login to SOLS and download materials as well
as re-watch sessions in streaming video format.
Independence High School, Williamson County
At Independence High, SOLS’ features are used in the following
courses: AP European History, The History of Ideas, Greek and Roman
Mythology, Native American History. For these courses, SOLS is used
to post PDFs of lecture outlines, post test review materials, and
communicate important information to students and parents through
the SOLS announcement and auto-e-mail features.
Sunset Middle School, Williamson County
At Sunset Middle, SOLS is used for Algebra 1, Advanced
Algebra, and Geometry courses. The courses have over eight hours
of pre-recorded lecture videos that are accessible to students 24
hours a day. Students are expected to come to class prepared, having
already watched the lectures from the day before. This helps them
have a firmer understanding of the governing concepts of mathematics
and to be better prepared to tackle the homework. The instructors
have more time in class to answer questions and work with students
independently in class—SOLS frees up time for to where the instructor
has time to help them with homework questions. The end result has
been that students learn more in less time and their confidence
is built in tandem with their abilities.
